Scroll Stories is an Oak Centre creative initiative that equips young Nigerians with the skills to drive social change through creative digital storytelling.
Designed for and by the internet generation, the programme teaches participants how to use the language of today’s digital platforms, including tweets, DMs, memes, reels, and rhythm, to tell compelling stories that raise awareness around issues such as governance, disinformation, and inclusion.
Through workshops, mentorship, and digital publishing opportunities, Scroll Stories transforms passive content consumers into conscious creators. It empowers youth to use fiction, humour, irony, and emotion to engage their peers, question narratives, and build civic awareness in subtle but powerful ways.
This initiative offers a unique opportunity to support media literacy, youth creativity, and democratic resilience in a rapidly evolving information landscape. It is storytelling with purpose, and a pipeline for a more informed, expressive, and empowered generation.
Because sometimes, the most powerful truths are told one scroll at a time.
An Open Letter to Gen Z
Dear Gen Z,
You scroll with instinct. You speak in rhythm. You know how to turn a meme into meaning and a moment into movement. That’s power, and it’s exactly what Scroll Stories is about.
In a world where screens never sleep and stories travel faster than facts, Scroll Stories invites you to reclaim the feed, one line at a time.
This isn’t your average writing programme. It’s a creative lab where your voice, your humour, your frustration, and your fire come together to create stories that stick. Stories that reflect real life, challenge misinformation, and wake people up.
We’re talking voice notes turned into fiction. Tweets that tell the truth. TikTok-style tales with layers. Narratives that punch, question, laugh, and educate, all in formats native to your world.
At its core, Scroll Stories is where creativity meets advocacy. Where the chaos of the timeline is shaped into commentary. Where hashtags become headlines. Where Gen Z doesn't just scroll through the world, you shape it.
So if you’ve ever felt like the internet needed more sense, more soul, or more storytelling that actually means something, this is your space.
Because the truth hits different when it comes with rhythm, irony, and scroll-stopping energy.
